KERSHAW, S.C. (Aug. 24, 2007) - Today marks the first step toward Carolina Motorsports Park's future growth, as Carolina Custom Construction completed the construction of a brand new timing and scoring building this morning. The two story building, located near the start/finish line on the front stretch of the 14-turn, 2.23-mile road course, was built specifically to provide sanctioning bodies a dedicated facility for timing/scoring and race control.
The first floor of the new building has been setup with business offices and a medical examination area, which will be utilized as the track's medical center during race weekends. The second floor has a sound-proof race control booth, along with a designated timing and scoring area featuring wireless internet and network capabilities. The room on the second floor will also be utilized as a classroom for driving and racing schools. A free wireless internet zone has also been created for customers just outside the building.
The construction of the new timing and scoring building is just the first of Carolina Motorsports Park's planned expansion and construction. More information about construction plans and new consumer offerings as described in CMP's five year business plan will be released shortly.
