Carolina Motorsports Park was recently honored to be the site used for the filming of the 2020 Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation Corvette for a Cure promotional video. Giving back is important to us and we were elated to have the chance to contribute to a program that raises money for such a worthy cause as pediatric cancer research. Below are details on the program including a link to the video, and more importantly, a link to purchase tickets for a chance to win Jeff Gordon’s 2020 C8 Corvette and $10,000 while helping to find a cure for childhood cancer.
Each year Jeff donates his personal Corvette to the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation. The Corvette program has raised nearly $9 million for pediatric cancer research to find less toxic, more effective treatments for the No. 1 cause of death by disease for kids. For more information on the Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation visit their website www.jeffgordonchildrensfoundation.org

After operating the facility for seven months under a lease arrangement, we have closed on the acquisition of Carolina Motorsport Park. We would like to thank Bob Humphreys, Joe Hooker and all the Carolina Motorsports Park, Inc. shareholders for choosing us to be the next stewards of The Park.
"Not only did Bob and Joe build a great facility, they developed an exceptionally talented and dedicated staff. We have enjoyed getting to know many of you through the events we have hosted over the past seven months, and we look forward to meeting the rest of you very soon. We could not be more excited about what the future holds for The Park," said Michael Cummings Sr. The pandemic has caused financial stress to all motorsports facilities - we were no exception as our revenue came to a screeching halt and many of our expenses did not. The CMP team did an outstanding job minimizing the impact of the pandemic by rescheduling many of our 2020 events. Because of this, we are happy to announce we are moving forward with our plans to resurface the road course this summer. Lynches River Contracting from Pageland, SC will begin the project on Monday, June 22nd with Advanced Material Services, LLC from Auburn, AL serving as consulting engineers. We look forward to reopening the road course in mid-August. On behalf of Carolina Motorsports Park, we would like to thank all of you who have supported CMP over the past twenty years and we look forward to the next twenty years at the Road Racing Center of the Carolinas! “Huge opportunity for Momentum Motorsports and CMP” May 11, 2020 – Taking their program to the next level, FR Americas Powered by Honda team Momentum Motorsports has moved their operation to South Carolina. Acquiring space at Carolina Motorsports Park (CMP), Phil Picard and his multi-dimensional operation will now have their location trackside in Kershaw, South Carolina.
“Having a location trackside is something that I have wanted for quite some time,” explained Phil Picard. “I explored many opportunities and options, but CMP was the clear choice when all the facts were considered. The track owners have many improvements planned for the facility, and we are happy to be on the front line of it all. Our new location gives us access to the permanent road course, skid pad as well as a kart track and club that we will utilize to increase our Karts to Cars program.” Momentum Motorsports’ new location will be located just inside the front gate at Carolina Motorsports Park. With a new 4,800 square foot shop, the premier race team will be able to offer a host of onsite services to benefit the racer. Picard added, “A trackside shop opens many more avenues of business for us. We will restart a major push on our Karts to Cars program and be able to offer tests most weeks. The location of CMP provides for year-round operation and a road course, kart track and skid pad can support a wide range of race programs. We have begun to move in and cannot wait to get the season started.” “As the operators of Carolina Motorsports Park, we are delighted Momentum Motorsports has chosen CMP for their new home,” stated Michael Cummings from CMP Operating Company. “Being able to offer on-site driver development and race car prep services is a key ingredient of our vision for the facility. Doing this with a company with Momentum Motorsports’ track record of success makes us extremely excited about what the future holds for CMP.” Carolina Motorsports Park was developed by a group of enthusiasts and racers from the Southeast. Land acquisition was completed in July 1998 with construction starting soon thereafter. The site was built on an old airport, known as "Kershaw Airport". The track was designed by famed track designer Alan Wilson and the full 2.27-mile road course opened in July 1999. In 2010 the .7-mile kart facility began operation. In November of 2019, operation of the facility was taken over by Motorsports Capital with a focus on providing customers an outstanding experience the entire family can enjoy. Carolina Motorsports Park is the only purpose-built road racing facility in the Carolinas and is located about an hour south of Charlotte, NC and 45 minutes outside of Columbia, SC. Rental karting will not be offered until further notice. Due to the use of shared equipment, we feel additional sanitization procedures must first be put in place. We are actively working on implementing such procedures.
As it was before the pandemic, is now and will be in the future, the safety and well-being of our employees and guests is our number one priority. We will continue to closely monitor directives from our state and local officials and reopen the facility as those directives allow. Thank you for understanding we must all work together in order to achieve a sense of normalcy once again. As the COVID-19 situation continues to develop, we will be extending our temporary closure through the end of April. This includes all CMP Karting activity. We will continue to actively observe the news and state orders, as it seems we all can only take this one day at a time. There is nothing that we value more than our community, our customers, and our employees. We hope you are staying safe and we hope to see you all again soon.

At this time, almost half of the Covid-19 cases in South Carolina are in our county and we do not feel comfortable putting our customers and employees at risk.
